Mission

The Montessori Academy Scott Blvd. (MASB) located in Decatur, Georgia is committed to the Montessori principles set forth by Maria Montessori, celebrating diversity in our community, being a family-centered institution, furthering an understanding of how young children learn, and sharing that knowledge with parents and the educational community at large.

Who We Are

The Montessori Academy Scott Blvd. (MASB) reflects the rich cultural, ethnic, and economic diversity of our neighborhood. We employ best practices that have evolved out of Montessori education over the past 90 years. Involving parents in their children’s educational lives reflects an important aspect of our mission. We are deeply committed toward the better understanding of what education for young children is about. We are especially dedicated toward sharing these emerging understandings with parents and the broader educational and social service communities.

MASB is conveniently located at the convergence of Church Street and Scott Boulevard near downtown Decatur, Georgia. We are situated near the Emory Campus, CDC, and American Cancer Society.

The programs include:

All day – 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Full day – 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM

Half day – 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM

The Scott Cafe

Montessori Academy Scott Blvd. offers children and their parents a model for healthy, organic eating.

As a Bright from the Start program, MASB is required to follow Nutrition Guidelines set forth by the USDA. However, our philosophy of Feed the Mind; Feed the Body improves upon state and federal requirements. Using only organic food, MASB serves freshly prepared snacks and meals daily. All food is prepared in MASB’s kitchen and is packed full of fresh fruits and vegetables.  We serve breakfast, lunch, morning and afternoon snacks.

As a practical life exercise each Friday, children utilize kid-friendly kitchen tools and equipment, under their teachers’ supervision, to prepare either their lunch and/or snack for the day.

“Education should no longer be mostly imparting knowledge, but must take a new path, seeking the release of human potentials.” – Dr. Maria Montessori
